The Barter Thrift Shop
The thrift shop has been operating only a short time but has already had a great positive impact on AHLE and the people living in the village where the orphanage is located, San Francisco de Yojoa.
The way the barter thrift shop works is that the townspeople volunteer their time at AHLE, and then receive credit that can be used at the shop to purchase items for their families. It is a win-win situation. We not only increase the size of our volunteer group, we also give parents and townspeople a chance to build their self esteem by providing for their families, many of whom are unemployed.
We are very excited about this new project that not only supports our orphanage but is of great benefit for the people of the village and surrounding areas.
We will happily receive all sorts of in-kind donations, from household goods to tools, electronic equipment, clothing, furniture, etc.
